Triton Ladies' 1s Awards Success

The tremendous accolades for Triton HC begin at the Cheshire Women's League presentations - the Ladies' 1s scooped the Triple Crown!

Not only did skipper Becki Burndred pick up the Division 1 Championship trophy for the team, she also won the top goalscorer award whilst Maddie Goodman won the player of the year award for the Division. Huge congratulations to the Ladies together with their fantastic team mates.

Triton Juniors End of Season Awards Successes

The Triton Junior section held its annual awards and presentation event last Saturday morning. All of junior groups were celebrated and certificates presented by Men’s 1s skipper Tom Chaddock for the Stix Skills assessments a few weeks ago or attendance awards for those unable to attend the Stix Skills event. Stix Skills assesses the competence of junior players in 6 key disciplines of shooting, passing, tackling and dribbling with the gold award standard a very tough challenge to achieve. A huge credit to the four juniors that achieved this level – Lucy Hawkrigg, Izzy Lewis, Issy Chivers and Harry Clare.

The team scored over 100 goals in total with Tom Statham getting 24 as top scorer, whilst seven clean sheets preserved by the defence and goalkeepers. The U12s of the team were unlucky to lose in the semi-final of the Cheshire Cup.

Coach Alan Lewis enthused that the team has improved so much this year. Last year it took a lot of beatings, but has really turned things around this season, giving all of their opponents a real run for their money. Picking up some good wins along the way

Most Improved: Ele Beetlestone, Katie Nelson - Katie has played with us for just one season and has improved substantially, week on week. Ele has been with Triton for a long time and her improvement has come through sheer commitment and hard work, both during training and also at home.

Player of the season. Lucy Hawkrigg - the girls to vote for their player of the season and the runaway winner was Lucy.

The Junior section also celebrated Steve Plumb’s contributions to coaching the U10s at the Club. Steve who began coaching when the junior section was formed in 2005 has decided to step down at this season. Whilst Steve will be sadly missed by everyone at Triton, Aimee Standing has been working closely with him over the last few seasons and has been the lead U10s coaching during 2016/17.

East Cheshire JAC Success

The East Cheshire JAC awards took place on Saturday evening at Congleton Town Hall that celebrated all the players who played representative hockey for the area in the Northwest tournaments this spring. As usual Triton HC was well represented in all the age groups for both girls and boys as the Club played its part in a fantastically successful season for East Cheshire. Triton Hockey Club is especially proud of the players that scooped seven of the awards presented by Welsh international Sian French;

Maddie then dashed off to join up with her team mates in the North of England U15s High Performance squad on Sunday in Nottingham, whilst sister Gaby continues to train with the Wales senior development squad.
