Fantastic Win For Ladies' 1s

14 November 2018 by Tim Statham

Triton Men’s 1s 1 Deeside Men’s 3s 1

Men’s 1s was held at home to Deeside in a game that they really should have won. Mikey Calam gave Triton an early lead on 10 minutes with a goal from real individual quality dribbling past a few Deeside defenders before slotting passed the goalkeeper. Triton was left frustrated in its efforts to get a second with Jack Newell going close at a penalty corner. The hosts continued to create chances in the second half, with the ball flashing past the goal on several occasions but the second goal remained elusive. Triton was punished for not taking these chances when Deeside converted one of their two penalty corners with a sweet strike to the near post to equalise. There were plenty of positives to take from the performance as some of last week’s deficiencies were addressed despite the 1-1 result.

Triton Ladies’ 1s 4 Northop Hall Ladies’ 1s 2

A great result and performance from the Ladies’ 1s against mid-table Northop Hall that secured its second win of the season. Triton’s effort levels were excellent all game typified by player of the match Kate Dale and this never let Northop get the better off it. The team exploited the width to great effect with some brilliant crosses coming into the D to forwards Michelle Price from Tracy Crump with Price capitalising to score twice. Amy Cruxton scored her first goal for the team and Julie Harris completed the scoring converting a penalty corner for the team’s fourth goal.

Deeside Men's 4s 2 Triton Men’s 2s 1

Triton Men's 2s succumbed to a frustrating away defeat at the hands of Deeside. The Deeside team put the visitors under pressure throughout and held the upper hand in the midfield for the majority of the game. Despite this it was Triton that took the lead mid-way through the first half when Joss Berry guided a rebound off the Deeside keeper into the bottom corner. A series of unconverted penalty corners came and went for both sides thanks to some fine defending and excellent work by both keepers.

Deeside came out strongly in the second half, moving the ball quickly and using the full width of the pitch to stretch the Triton defence. Unfortunately for Triton it worked with two goals being conceded in the first 10 minutes. From that point, the game opened up as the teams tires, with clear chances created at both ends. Toby Farrington in the Triton goal putting together a multitude of outstanding saves to keep Triton in the game. Despite remaining in touch Triton failed to capitalise and convert the numerous chances created as it misfired in front of goal. As a consequence the game ended with a frustrating 2-1 defeat.

Timerley Ladies’ 4s 7 Triton Ladies’ 2s 0

The Triton Ladies’ 2s suffered a heavy defeat away at Timperley.

Triton Men’s 3s 6 Timperley Men’s 6s 3

The Men’s 3s recent woes appeared to be continuing when Timperely took an early two goal advantage. But two goals from Dan Hancock and a deft flick by Si Cruxton following Andy Pilbury’s excellent pass gave the team a 3-2 lead at the break. Two goals from Mark Drew and an super first goal for the 3s by Harry Clare capped an excellent overall performance where the passing and pace were superb throughout.

Triton Ladies’ 3s 0 Eirias Ladies’ 1s 8

The Ladies’ 3s suffered a heavy defeat at home to the runaway Division 6 leaders in a game in which the team was always likely to struggle. Despite the score line the defence and midfield of Laura Jackson, Beth Keegan, Becky Pitt, Sandra Stanley, Karen Gooch and keeper Karen Ruston played really well. Up front Kat Doyle, Georgie Krippner, Angelica Almeida and Hollie Robinson worked hard to counter attack but the Eirias defence frustrated their efforts. The whole team battled hard throughout and the score line didn't reflect the balance of play.

Triton Men’s 4s 7 Sale Men’s 3s 1

The Men’s 4s put last week’s defeat firmly behind it with a terrific display against Sale. Triton gradually established control of the game after some end-to-end play initially. The first goal of the game came from Chris Calam with a crisp strike going passed the Sale keeper. Lee Wilson made it 2-0 at close range and this was shortly followed up with a goal from Alex Potts after a fine ball into the D from Jake Hales. The Triton defence, meanwhile, held firm when tested by the Sale attack. Half time: Triton 3 Sale 0

Triton started the second half poorly and conceded a penalty stroke almost from the restart. Fortunately, Sale's effort was disallowed by the umpire. This served as a wakeup call and Triton's hockey improved significantly. Jake Hales, industrious as always, scored twice after taking advantage of loose balls in the D. Lee Wilson capped off a fine Triton move which should certainly be a contender for goal of the season following from some fine interplay between Alan Lewis and Chris Calam, before Alex Potts pulled the ball back from the by-line for Wilson converted with ease. Alex Potts deservedly scored his second of the game after some skilful play from Tom Statham - dribbling into the D and playing the ball back to Potts. Triton put the Sale defence under significant pressure and had further chances which they did not take. The one dampener was that Triton were unable to hold onto a clean sheet, conceding late on, having defended well throughout.

Triton Beavers U13s 1 Timperley 2

Last month the Beavers beat Timperley 3-2 in a tight game and this return fixture was equally close. Timperley scored first from open play after a period of pressure after Lia Wilde in goal had denied the visitors with some excellent saves. Triton levelled the score at 1-1 when Alex Mackey picked up the ball at half way, eliminated several Timperley players before driving down the right wing to cross for Harry Topping to slot home.

In the second half it was good defending and attacking by both sides with a lot of goalmouth action at either end. Timperley retook the lead and was then pinned back by surges of Triton attacks in the last 10 mins but it could not convert any of the chances. There were some excellent performances all round for Triton especially player of the match Darcey Pawezowski.
